Happy almost Friday and Day 14 of Another 100 Days of Hannah, y’all!
I love late days.
Late start days that is.
After having to leave by ~6:30a yesterday morning to drive across the state to a facility, I’m admittedly SUPER excited to not have to leave until around 7:50 today.
Late days give me a chance to feel like I at least sort of have my life together.
Even when they begin with the realization of all the ways that I failed the day before.
Like, forgetting my wallet on my table at home…
And not having a patient chart when I got back home after work.
And not doing dishes at night, so they were all ready to be done this morning before breakfast.
And forgetting to put my ice vest (how I try to keep from passing out under the PPE in the insane heat of nursing homes/long-term care facilities.
And not fully closing the fridge last night after putting my lunch in.
**If it’s not obvious by now: “Hi, my name’s Hannah, and I absolutely do NOT have my life together.**
Admittedly, when I woke up this morning, peace was the last thing on my mind.
As I pulled out my devotion though, the opening verse hit me in the face:
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
I know it probably sounds like same story, 85th verse, but it was yet again the reminder that I needed.
My peace is not found in my situation, my feelings, my schedule, my diet, my workouts, my friendships, my mind, or my body. My peace comes through Christ alone.
Somewhat begrudgingly, I turned to Christ and, once again, relinquished my control of my morning and day to Him.
It took some time, but by the end of my (extended) prayer time, I was at peace.
My situation hadn’t changed.
My schedule hadn’t changed.
My previous day’s failures hadn’t changed.
Only my focus.
He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him.
